ACADEMY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES
APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE POST OF
EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
The Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences is the country’s premier institution
of intellectual excellence devoted to the promotion of the study, extension
and dissemination of knowledge in all the sciences and of learning. The
first to be established in independent Africa, the Ghana Academy now
interacts with a dozen African as well as many non African Academies.
DUTIES:
The Executive Secretary under the general guidance of the Honorary Secretary
and Council of the Academy shall help drive the strategic development plan
which forms the basis of the Academy’s activities.
The Executive Secretary, as
the full time manager of the Academy shall be responsible for the general
administration of the Secretariat, including the management of records,
publications, the Library, Fellows’ data and archives.
The Executive Secretary shall service the Council, the General Meetings of
Fellows, committees of the Academy, and be responsible for organizing the
Academy’s public events.
ELIGIBILITY
The position of Executive
Secretary is equivalent to that of a Deputy Registrar of the State
Universities of Ghana.
The applicant should be university graduate, with a good honours degree, and
post-graduate degree(s). A PhD would be an advantage.
The candidates should have at least eight years experience at senior
managerial levels in academic or other areas of public administration.
Personal integrity and ability to mobilize and motivate staff are a must.
Above average ability to write and speak English and to work beyond normal
official hours without direction and control would be expected. A working
knowledge of French would be an advantage.
Applicants should be 40 years and above.
SALARY:
The salary attached to
the post is equivalent to that of a Deputy Registrar of the State
Universities of Ghana.
